Welcome to the Global Health Initiative (GHI) at the University of Chicago. GHI is dedicated to improving health through education, research, and service in partnership with communities around the world. Since many academic disciplines address the challenges of global health, GHI brings together faculty and students from many different schools and programs on campus. Our primary goal is to help develop and advance sustainable solutions to complex international health challenges through novel, integrative approaches.

"Five University of Chicago medical professionals, including two Haitian nurses, left for a town on the Haiti-Dominican Republic border that has been overwhelmed by victims of the earthquake."
Deadline: February 12, 2010
The University of Chicago Global Health Initiative seeks to support research and career development in the emerging
discipline of global health. It has therefore created the Global Health Research Program to fund new and innovative pilot
projects and/or leverage existing projects in this area. These should be multidisciplinary and include collaboration
between two or more Divisions of the University as well as international partnership. Two $50,000 awards for one year
of work will be made, with possible competitive renewal for an additional year. Recipients of awards must have
